Mt. Carmel Cemetery

A Place of Faith, Heritage, and Remembrance

Mount Carmel Cemetery is the oldest Catholic cemetery in Toledo, serving generations of Catholic families for more than a century. Located at the corner of Lagrange Street and Manhattan Boulevard, it has long been a place of Christian burial for the families of north and east Toledo, offering a sacred setting where faith, family, and tradition are remembered.

Originally established as St. Mary's and St. Francis de Sales Cemetery, the cemetery was expanded in the 1930s with the addition of 30 to 40 acres and the construction of its beautiful grotto. Renamed Mount Carmel Cemetery and consecrated by Bishop Karl J. Alter on November 1, 1936, it continues today as one of the three Catholic cemeteries owned and operated by the Diocese of Toledo.

Its strong ethnic heritage, mature landscape, and enduring connection to generations of Toledo families make Mount Carmel a place of prayer, remembrance, and hope in the Resurrection.
